Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American as well as a Canadian singer-songwriter. She's released over 20 albums. The music of DiFranco is classified as folk and alternative rock, but it also has influences of jazz and hip-hop. Widely considered a feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement and is among the first musicians to launch her own label the year 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23 1970 the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco, who had met while attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The mother of her is from Montreal and her father has Italian origins. Ani DiFranco sang and wrote 32 Flavors. This song appears on her album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. This track appears on the film's soundtrack the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco has since apologized after the news broke she was planning to host a 3-day workshop on a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. While she had to cancel the workshop the majority of attendees (including our paper) did not see any remorse. DiFranco released a second apology just a few days following the initial. While she's been referred to for her role as the Little Folksinger, her music has embraced many styles and collaborations that range in a variety of styles from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. DiFranco began attending classes at Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
